True Image 2010 / archive filename problem

Thread needs solution

Hello,

yesterday I made an update from an older version to True Image 2010.

First (and minor) problem - at first I couldn't read the PDF-manual I got with the program. Adobe Reader started, but did not show any content of that 8 MB big file. It took a lot of new clicks on the PDF-Icon, of restarting the computer, of changing the user - now it works, and I can read the documentation.

Is this behaviour known here?

After installation I inspected my existing older archive backups and decided to make an incremental backup to an existing backup splitted into files named PlusPC-C-21-1.tib .. PlusPC-C-21-4.tib - and got a new file named PlusPC-C-21-45.tib.
Not directly what I expected.

Next experiment was to validate this archive:
Validation of PlusPC-C-21-4.tib is ok.
Validation of PlusPC-C-21-45.tib fails.
After some useless work I renamed the new PlusPC-C-21-45.tib into PlusPC-C-21-5.tib, which looks more like the explanation in the PDF-Manual.
And the validation of this renamed file shows ok.

Do I misunderstand something with Acronis name conventions? And why created True Image this filename PlusPC-C-21-45.tib that failed?

Yours
Manfred

Hello Manfred,

Let me assist you with this situation.

1. Regarding your pdf issue: we do not have any common issue with opening our User's Guides. So it looks like you have downloaded the manual incompletely or the pdf reader was not installed correctly somehow. If this issue occurs, please try redownloading the manual and reinstalling application.

2. Yes, that's obvious that we're facing some naming issue here, since the product should name backup PlusPC-C-21-5.tib; the failed validation is caused by the same thing - product tries to validate the whole chain, but not able to find the reference to other backups.

Could you please let me investigate the issue and do the following?

-Please let me know the build number of the product, which you can find in the Help -> About dialog (it should be a 3 or 4 digit number)

-Could you please provide me with the exact sequence of actions that lead to the issue you report, so that I can try to reproduce it?

-Which backup set have you created? Which naming template have you selected in our program?

Additionally to this, you are welcome to ask me any other questions concerning Acronis, and I will assist you further.

Looking forward to hearing back from you,
