True Image 2011 Email notification fails to set up properly
When I set up the email notification I have to enter a username and password. I am using Outlook 2007 and have checked the password several times but get an error when I send a test message saying Authentication Failed, check email settings. If I leave the username and password blank it sends the test message OK but it won't let me exit and save without a username and password. I think it is because my ISP (which is Virgin Media) does not support user logon authentication but True Image is insisting it is set up. Anyone got any ideas?

I just upgraded my 2011 home edition to build 6597 and my email notification stopped working. I have reconfigured and still nothing. My email server DOES NOT require username and password from the network to send email. I have tried the configurations with and without username and password and still nothing. Before the upgrade I only needed the IP of the email server and a sending email address.
This is the kind of stuff that really makes me hate this version.... I have been using Acronis products form many years at home and work and this is the worse Acronis product yet. If you have an option DO NOT upgrade to 2011. Stay with version 9 or 2010.

There is a workaround for this which requires manually editing the backup script file to override the email settings that the GUI creates in the backup job. Search and you'll find the thread. I didn't try it myself, because my ISP had an SMPT server I could use with SSL that does require authentication, so by supplying the required credentials in the Acronis GUI and using that SMTP server, my email is working.
Acronis has a real uphill climb to correct all the issues people are having with TIH 2011. I've gotten mine to the point it's working for my basic needs... But so many of the whistles and bells and some critical elements aren't solid yet. I'd rate 2011 as no better than a mediocre beta at best. If Acronis doesn't improve 2011 through updates to a solid release before the 2012 version comes out, I'm bailing on it. Its just not worth the headaches.
It is interesting that the first 2011 release (including builds 5519 and I think 6574) had email working OK. If you set up the backup job in build 5519 or 6574 and email worked, it continued to work in build 6597for that job... since the backup settings didn't change in the script. But if you tried to edit the backup in 6597, the email stopped working because 6597 broke the notification part of the script and the GUI now requires SMTP ID/password even if the server doesn't. Crazy.

TI 2011 email notification is totally useless. I tried configuring it for my ISPs TLS secure authentication and TI crashes each and every time on multiple XP Pro machines here.
