True Image 2011: Non Stop Backup - advice needed

Thread needs solution

Hi all

I've just had to completely re-install Windows 7 Professional 64bit and all of my software due to a PC disaster. This has taken me the best part of 4 days to do!

I've just started using Acronis True Image Home 2011, and I have already taken a full backup (single version) of my C:\ drive. I'm going to keep this in a really safe place in view of my recent OS problems. As well, I'm also going to set up a scheduled Custom backup program, which will first save me a Full backup then differential backups on a weekly basis.

However, when I set up Non Stop Backup (NSB), it initially defaulted to offering to just backup My Documents. This is OK for my data, but I really want to achieve continuous protection of my entire Operating System, so as to be able to recover it at any time. For example, a recent installation of Diskeeper Pro Premier knocked out the Acronis program icons, and there was nothing I could do to get these back. All I got was the ugly Windows default icons - Yuk!

So I hope I'm doing the right thing, but I've now set up NSB to backup: a) my entire C: drive; b) My Documents; c) Desktop and d) my main Username folder. I will still be running my scheduled Custom backup program, but I want (hope that) NSB can act as a failsafe as well.

My question is this. Will this configuration of NSB allow me to do a full restore of my Operating System from the NSB archive whenever I require; or can this only be done from Full and incremental or differential backups? As I understand it, NSB takes a backup every 5 minutes - is this right? Or am I misunderstanding anything?

Any advice on what you'd recommend would be really appreciated.
