True Image 2012 - Validation of Backup to NAS Fails (Thecus N3200PRO)

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I have a Thecus N3200PRO NAS running a RAID-5 configuration.

I recently increased HDs from 1.5TB to 3TB.
To do that I had to upgrade the firmware from 1.00.03 to 3.00.03.

I've been backing up my PC (windows 7 Home Premium, Service Pack 1, 64bit) to the NAS for many years now, without an issue.
Since the upgrade it fails the validation step with the error:

Operation with partition '0-0' was terminated.
Details:
The archive is corrupted (0x70020)
Tag = 0x6DB23AC9F8978092

Event code: 0x000101F6+0x00070020

I followed Acronis debug flow (40641: True Image 2013 by Acronis: Backup Fails with "Operation with partition '0-0' was terminated. Details: The archive is corrupted (0x70020) Tag"). MemTest ran 4 times over night without any failures and backup to a local internal drive worked just fine.

I contacted Thecus support but the only thing they have for me right now is to connect the NAS directly to the PC and not thru a router. I doubt the issue is with the router.

I also found "37592: Acronis 2013 - lose network connection when validating backup" and drppped the compression level to "none", but validation step of backup to NAS still fails (see attached log).

Any suggestions?
Any other settings I should explore? Any other experiments to perform?

I have 770GB of data. The backup and validate procedure runs for almost two days. Any way to create a smaller test case?

Thank you and Best Regards,
Eldad

Your error code indicates that the backup has become corrupt, look here:

Hi Enchantech,

Thank you for your reply!
I noted in my original post that I did go thru that trouble shooting process: MemTest passes, and backup to local HD worked fine.
I do suspect the issue is with the NAS upgrade, but I'm still looking for:

1. Any other suggestions?

2. I have 770GB of data.

I'm not sure how I can pin point the issue for Thecus and/or provide them with a test case/experiment to determine the root cause and provide a solution.

For scenario 2 you could perform a folder or file backup. Choosing a small folder for example would greatly shorten the backup time.

Did you troubleshoot as per the link below including using both the Windows installed program and from Recovery Boot Media?

https://kb.acronis.com/system/files/content/2005/12/1517/png_1.htm

Yes, I did use this diagram, and no, I did not use a burnt recovery media. I followed the chart down to "are you backing up to internal drive" and then moved to the right and tried backing up to an internal drive and it solved the problem. Then the chart ends with the box on the right suggesting it's either the USB drivers, the cable, etc. In my case it is a NAS.

How do I initiate a backup of a file or folder?
