True Image 2013 by Acronis Not Responding

Thread needs solution

March 31, 2013:
Just downloaded full version of True Image 2013 and Plus Pack. Installed True Image first followed by
Plus Pack. When I start True Image, it comes up with but within 30 seconds I get a message:
True Image by Acronis Not Responding.
Bottom left says "This product has been successfully activated"

What OS are you using?

Is it True Image that has the message or is it via the Windows Notification bar?

Have you tried running a repair install of 2013?

I suspect that depending on what is issuing the error message, it might be either one of the Acronis services hasn't started or the auto check for updates/cloud log in is causing TI to hang for a few seconds. Try disabling search for updates via the cog icon and if it is set up for autolog in for Sync or cloud, log out and restart TI 2013 and see if there is any improvement.

Windows 8 is the OS. I can't even use the cog icon, any tab, or question mark icon. In fact, when I click anything I get the spinning thing
and have to close the application. The message appears in the True Image window itself.

Thomas,

Other than True Image hanging, are you able to access other parts of Windows?

Have you tried the repair install?

Windows 8 is fine (or at least the parts of it that I still like ;-) )
I'm thinking about trying a local account. The one that I set up at first goes out to Microsoft to login.(and has Admin privs.) but I'm thinking
maybe it tries to do something not permissible out there and wait and waits, etc. I can't even find how to do a repair install. My only apparent
choice is to uninstall it.
Thanks

Thomas,

Just run the installer again, it should offer you the repair option this time around.

True Image sets up its own user accounts. You could though add yourself to the Backup Operators account and see if that gets you going.

I tried installing it on a local account and it actually caused Windows 8 to restart. I saw a msg DPC_WATCHDOG VIOLATION.
It then sent some dump information to Microsoft. The next time I tried to install it the install program offered a REPAIR option and I chose it but I still can't get True Image to respond. Now I do not even see that it has been activated, registered, etc. Maybe it thought I was installing it to a different PC when I used a different account?

Is your PC a Tablet?

No, it's a 1 week old new DELL XPS 8500 Tower.
In order to get some pictures copied over from an older DELL Dimension PC, I installed Western Digital
backup software. I'm wondering if it has something running as a process that interferes with a true, complete True Image 2013 install. I'm now at work 45 miles away from the XPS 8500 (with no remote access) so I'll have to wait until later tonight to try something with that idea. (i.e remove WD software, and try reinstall of True Image)
Thanks for your advice.

Tom

The WD disk wizard is based on True Image 2009, WD and the Acronis version shouldn't be installed at the same time.

As you say, uninstall WD and it might be an idea to uninstall 2013, run the 2013 cleaner, reboot, install 2013 again.

The cleaner is ffound here. Take note of the instructions about rebooting.

Removed WD software and True Image 2013, rebooted - still got same Not Responding error.
Began a chat with support. Via remote control, Technician installed from another downloaded file, tried a drive install, and rebooted. Still no difference (i.e. same Not responding message) Several reports were ftped to Acronis.
Waiting for investigation of same files.
Thanks for previous assistance. It will be interesting to see what the issue is.
