True Image 2013 - Replace External Drive

Thread needs solution

I bought a new higher-capacity external disk to replace my old one, now full. But TI2013 won't recognize it. What do I need to do to prepare TIH2013 to use it?

Rick, welcome to these user forums.

You shouldn't need to do very much to be able to use your new external disk with ATIH 2013 apart from ensuring that it is formatted ready for use and can be viewed in Windows Explorer and has been assigned a valid drive letter?

What is the actual capacity of the new drive?  If it is greater than 3GB then you may need to format as GPT to allow Windows to recognise the full capacity of the drive.

Thank you for the welcome, Steve. It looks like you’ve already helped me resolve my issue!

I discovered the answer in your discussion of earlier today while you were helping David J [126696]—which I just happened to find. ATIH2013 and its database were apparently still expecting my old disk and the backup files it contained. So I ran a validation on the new empty disk, ignoring the missing files. I then created a whole new backup scheme and ... voilà! I’ve since run the first full backup on the new disk and all seems to be OK.

This is my first post, so I'm not sure if I should mark the problem solved and, if so, how.

Thanks again, Steve.
