True Image 2013 update failure

Thread needs solution

I opened True Image 2013 yesterday, and got a popup saying that there was an update available. I ran the download/install for this, and got an error message "Cannot remove the following components , because they were installed for the current user only: Acronis True Image Home 2013............", and was advised to uninstall manually.

I am on Windows 7, but True Image was not showing control panel->programs and features. I then ran the cleanup utility, as per KB article 34876. When I try to reinstall True Image, I get the original error message again.

I can't find anything in the KB that would enable me to go forward, can anyone help.

Okay, so here's what I've done.

Ran TrueImage cleanup utlity, and rebooted. Had the same problem on attempting install again.

Started laptop in recovery mode, and ran fixmbr. Still got the problem.

Ran CCleaner, installation still fails.

Ran regedit, and manually remove references to Acronis, TrueImage and True Image. Attempt installation again, and this time it seemed to be going well. Got to a point, then started to roll back and finshed with a 'Fatal Error'. Checked the MSI log file, and it was crashing out on a 1603 error (MSI Installer?).

Ran True Image cleanup utility again. This time when the installation failed, it gave me the option to Repair or Uninstall the 2013 option. Ran the un-install option and rebooted the machine.

Installation still fails, but now I'm back to the original error where it can't uninstall components and tells me to manually uninstall them.

I have absolutely no idea how to proceed now.
