True Image 2014 cloning issue

Thread needs solution

Hello:
I am new to the cloning process. I have an existing SSD which I use I run Photoshop and the like. I decided to get a larger SSD to provide more room (i.e go from 128 GB to 512GB). I bought a Crucial MX100. My existing SSD is a Kingston 128GB

So I had the new SSD (the 512GB) attached via a USB 2.0 port and I used Acronis True Image 2014 which came with the crucial MX100.

I have tried automatic and manual modes of cloning. I always get the following error message at 22 minutes remaining.

Failed to write to sector X, Y, Z) of hard disk 3
Direct R/W operation has failed (0x590001)
Input/output error ()xFF1)

There are other error messages after that but that is the one that starts it. I do not know whether that is a defect in the disc or I am doing something wrong.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated
Tim

Tim, First be advised that there have been reported issues with some Crucial MX100 drives and Acronis TI. Having said that this may not apply to your situation. You say that you connected your new 512GB drive to a USB 2.0 port and attempted to clone your system drive to it. That is the wrong approach. Your procedure should be to first create a boot media disk using the TI app.. Then make sure that you cna boot your machine using that boot media. Once you are certain you can do that you would need to remove your original 128GB drive and replace it with the new 512GB drive. Then attach your original 128GB drive to a spare SATA connector and power wire. Boot your system using the created boot media and then perform the clone operation. See this link for the recommended clone procedures:
