True Image 2015 - Windows 10 Home 64bit - Hanging/Freezing Issues - Clean Install
Hi Guys,
I have been using True Image 2015 (build 6613) without issue on my Windows 7 64bit machines. Yesterday I did the upgrade from 7 to 10 and then when completed did a CLEAN INSTALL of Windows 10, after completing, all the updates were installed. There were no other programs installed whatsoever. I then installed TI2015 and after installation the Windows 10 machine started hanging, freezing and such - I promptly removed TI2015 and everything was back to normal - Thinking it may have just been an installation issue for whatever reason I installed again and the same hanging issues occurred.
Is this happening for anyone else, on the same laptop running Win 7 it was sweet, no issues. On my machine there seems to be some conflict between TI2015 and Win 10 as there are no other programs installed. I also made sure all my drivers were as up to date as possible.
Ive also noticed the supported OS's for Windows are just showing Windows 10 Insider Preview - does this mean other builds of Win 10 will be on the way?
Any help appreciated
Cheers John

Since upgrading to Windows 10 (64-bit) I have also noticed that my PC starting hanging and freezing. I did stop all the Acronis services except the scheduler service. It seemed to help - but it is too early to say if this will resolve the problem.
More worrying is that fact that when performing a backup, the True Image 2015 (build 6613) sometimes freezes or hangs during a backup. I have resorted to creating and booting off the bootable rescue media. I am able to perform a backup of the OS and other partition - but this situation is not ideal.
I then tried recoverying files and folders from the disk-level backup (using the bootable rescue media) - about 10GB of JPG files - but I recieved an error for each file. I will try to post the screenshots this evening.
I also tried to recover files and folders from within Windows 10, running the True Image 2015 app. The restore begins and files are restoring, but the app hangs/freezes after a while (after 40 mins or so). I have uninstalled and re-installed True Image 2015 - but the results are the same. I have not tested recovering an entire disk or partition due to lack of free disk space.
So, although I have been able to now bakup an entire disk and disk partitions, I have not been successful in trying to recover files and folders.
Have you been able to recover files and folders from your current and previous backups? Everything worked fine under Windows 7.

I too saw this (intermittent, but relatively frequent, freezing) on a clean install of 64 bit Windows 10 Pro, following successful use under 64 bit Windows 7 Ultimate. On a couple of occasions the freeze progressed to the 'black screen of death', but even when it didn't it appeared to be unrecoverable without a hard reset. Uninstalling ATI 2015 cured it. My system is a fairly new home built one, based on an Asus motherboard with a quad-core Intel processor and 32 GB of memory.

Same thing here almost exactly. Upgraded to 10 from 7 and then downloaded 2015. Errors, hanging, freezes and also failure to restart.
My computer was running better than ever after I'd added memory and moved to Windows 10, but as soon as I downloaded ATI 2015, my computer is essentially useless. I'd tried oto use 2014 which didn't cause any problems but it wasn't compat with Windows 10 (so i was told).
Acronis, if you are listening, I need my money back or a solution.

Same of my problem.
For me ATI 2015 is not full compatible with Wiondows 10.

I get exactly the same problem. Originally I had ATI 2013, so this wasn't supported with Windows 10 so I bought an upgrade to 2015. Same problem so did a clean install. Worked fine until I installed ATI when it started hanging again, and now works fine after I uninstalled.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for all your replies - hopefully Acronis will see this thread and realise there is an issue somewhere for some users. I personally have tried everything from stopping all startup items relating to Acronis to stopping all non essential services but nothing matters. All I can say is when ATI2015 is installed laptop is totally unresponsive, I have to keep power button pressed to shutdown and then restart, when I remove ATI2015 everything is perfect.
I have also noticed some people are saying use the cleanup utility - I have downloaded the cleanup utility for ATI2015 and when I run it it says the wrong version of Windows is installed (I'm on Windows 10 Home 64bit) - so that's the end of that possible fix.....
Not looking for refunds or anything Acronis just a fix as I love your software when working....

After several tests I saw that the problem occurs with the following configuration:
- Upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10
- Motherboard Asus P8P67-M Intel Core i5
In other PC starting from Windows 8 and MB not Asus (AsRock) the problem did not occur.
I hope in the new 16 (free ?) version ...

The only common features between your (Livio) setup and mine, which also showed the problem, was the Asus motherboard and an Intel CPU (though mine is an I7). I was also told by Acronis support to wait for the 2016 version.

I've just upgraded to the new version (ATI 2016) and after about 5 hours so far everything is working fine. Previously I was getting hangs within about 10 mins of a restart. Hopefully this has provided a fix.

Still working fine one day later. I got a free upgrade as I'd only recently purchased ATI 2015. If you haven't got a free upgrade and are still getting the problem then I'd contact Acronis and ask for one.

I have found that when ATI 2015 is not installed, my computer does not hang or freeze.
My motherboard is MSI H97M-G43 (MS-7924).
I purchased ATI 2015 on 20 June 2015 in order to prepapre for Windows 10 upgrade. I would like a free upgrade as the current product is useless (not-fit-for-purpose) - even though the latest build has Windows 10 support. Instead of fixing the problem, Acronis have released a new version of the software which I now have to pay for???
How can I get a free upgrade?
I've been a long time Acronis customer, from since August 2003! That's 12 years. I hope that means something to them.

Just go to the Acronis web site and try placing an order for an upgrade. If your license key was issued recently (can't remember the cut-off date they gave) then you'll get a free upgrade. If you're not eligible then I'd try raising a support ticket and ask for a free upgrade anyway, as long as you have a valid license for ATI 2015 and it's not working, and ATI 2016 fixes it, then you have a good case.

I went to the Acronis but I dont qualify for an upgrade without paying for it - so I mut be beyond the qualfying date.
I purchased on 20 June 2015, but the website says my support expired July 20, 2015.
I logged the ticket under "CUSTOMER CARE" --> "PERSONAL PRODUCT REFUND" - but I'd rather they fix the problem so that I can use ATI 2015 under Windows 10.
So, for me NO UPGRADE, NO SUPPORT.

Add me to the hosed by Acronis club.
I upgraded my Intel NUC from Win7, which was running perfectly, to Win10 and started experiencing random freezes, especially when coming out of sleep. I wasted almost two days reinstalling drivers browsers, and updating BIOS before disabling the multitude (actually 4) of Acronis True Image 2015 processes and services. The system has been running for a week without a problem.
Even though I purchased my Acronis True Image only a few months ago, it seems as if I'm not eligible for either a fix or an update.
I believe that Acronis True Image 2015 was advertised to be Windows 10 compatible.
As with Ellis in the above post, for me NO UPGRADE, NO SUPPORT.

FWIW, the problem does seem to have been fixed in TI 2016 - at least for my system. I know that this doesn't help those who don't have free access to the upgrade.

The last update 2015 had was in July.
I started buying Acronis in 2014, but I'm going to start looking for better offerings. If we are going to have to buy the new version every single year why don't you switch to a subscription model? With other software, I pay once a year to keep the license going and I can always upgrade the product whenever I want. I'm always supported.
I bought Acronis in June this year am I really expected to pay again for proper WIndows 10 support?

Hi dblade,
thank you for your comment.
In fact we do offer yearly subscription. More about licensing you can find in this article: https://kb.acronis.com/content/56514
As for technical difficulties on Windows 10 systems, there are no general issues, but there might be incompatinbility problems in particular environments which should be investigated on case-by-case basis. Acronis True Image 2016 can help in some cases because changes introduced by other reasons affect program behaviour even if they were not intended.
If you have the latest update of Acronis True Image 2015 and experience any difficulties, please contact our support so that we could conduct an investigation. If it turns out that the problem is in the product, we refund the cost of the support fee.
Thank you,
