true image 6 OEM boot-able CD locks-up at "Loading, Please wait..."

Thread needs solution

I've got an Aspire 1501 laptop (WindowsXP), for which, I bought a Freecom FHD-2 PRO 40GB external USB hard drive. It came with True Image 6 OEM, I have been using it backing-up the hard drive ever since.
I needed a new (and bigger) HDD, so I did one last back-up and installed a 160GB drive using Partition Magic 8.0, then tried to start up the laptop with a boot-able CD, which I had created with True Image 6, but to no avail. It locks-up within seconds of starting, with a black screen, an Acronis graphic in the top-right of the screen and written under that, "Loading, Please wait..." ,with a solid cursor.
I waited for over an hour, just make sure, then gave up and switched the laptop off.
I installed the OS with the Acer recovery discs which came with the laptop. Then re-installed True Image 6 OEM and used it to try and restore my last back-up. It told me that it would have to delete the partitions in doing so. It then shut down windows and and restarted the machine and locked-up in the same place the CD had.
I have look around the forum and found that people with similar problems have used an iso image given to them to solve the lock-up. Is there a version 6 iso I could put on CD to get me out of this mess?

Here's an update on my problem, IF anyone is interested.
I registered the product and downloaded the one, and only, update available. Installed it, then made another boot disk and used it in my laptop. But the same thing happened again, except this time I got the message "IOAPIC [0]: Invalid reference to IRQ 0/n<6>ACPI: Interpreter enabled schedule_task():keventd has not started".
Thing is, I tried the boot disk in my desktop PC, and it works fine. But that's not the computer I want to restore.
So please, any help out there.
