true image 8

Thread needs solution

I have acronis true image 8 that i was never able to get working right. Since i found this forum, I was wondering if there was a quick fix before I threw this software away. The problem is it locks up after booting the disaster recovery disk. It just reads loading please wait and nothing happens after that. I used it to create the partition which seemed to work fine. I created the disaster recovery disk, which seemed to copy ok. Then I tried rebooting off of the cd, after changing bios to only boot from cd. It started to boot, acronis logo appeared on screen, it says loading and thats as far as it goes.

Any suggestions?

See this post, but that is a very old build. http://forum.acronis.com/forum/34568.

The last update to 8 was Aug 2005 and the build was 937. If not using 937, this is available from your personal registration page--assuming that you registered your serial at time of purchase.

Vers 7 was long before Windows 7 and prior to sp2 and sp3 of XP.

If you have an early version of Windows XP or XP Pro, version 937 might work but working on anything else newer would be questionable.

Thanks for the quick reply. i guess this old program wont work with my newer machine. It never worked with my older machine either. I remember buying quite a few programs back then that just didnt work as promised. After removing the quiet command , I did notice that the program is looking for an ide drive with a bus speed of 33 mhz. I am using a sata drive on a dual processor machine so I guesss its time to look for updated software thanks for all your help.
