True Image Home 2010

Thread needs solution

Hi,
I just purchased True Image Home 2010.
Im new to this backup stuff. But I just want to make a simple backup of my internal harddrive to my external harddrive so if my internal drive crashes of loses data, I can easily recover it.
Is there a simple step by step procedure to do this.????

Thanks,

In the Sticky at the top by GroverH there is a guide for this. But here's a rough outline:
1. Rename your drives to something other than the default, "Local Drive".
2. Forget for the time being, the One Click Backup feature - the installation puts an icon for it on your Desktop. I would also ignore the Non-Stop Backup feature until you get more familiar with the product.
3. To run the software, r-click the ATI Home icon and select Run As Admin even if your login status is Admin.
4. When the main window appears, choose Backup then My Disks.
5. Put a check mark on Disk 1 - this will backup the entire drive. Do NOT check Sector by Sector. Click Next.
6. Under Backup Location click Browse to choose where to put the Backup Image (your external drive). I also prefer to name my backup instead of accepting the default "system_c_@date@. Click OK.
7. Click Next.
8. Click Proceed.

To do a recovery, make the bootable Rescue CD, boot with it, select Recovery and browse to where you have the Backup Image saved.

If you cannot to an actual recovery to a SPARE hard drive, boot with the CD and carry out a Validate on the Backup Image.
