True Image Home 2015 prevents Upgrade to Windows 10

Thread needs solution

Hi,

does anybody have a similar issue with True Image Home 2015 preventing a computer to upgrade from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10? I have this issue on my PC. The installation of Windows 10 seems to works properly until the first reboot, then a message appears that Acronis True Image prevents the upgrade and the system is reset to Windows 8.1.

Anybody had this and knows how to solve it?

Thanks,
Matthias

Here my suggestion:
under Win8.1
1. download latest version of ATI2015 (build 6525)
2. download Acronis cleanup tool
3. uninstall ATI2015 from control panel programs..., reboot
4. use Acronis cleanup tool, reboot
5. upgrade to Win10
under Win10
6. reinstall ATI2015 build 6525
7. set up your backup tasks again

good luck

Hmm... My latest build, which works with Windows 10, is No. 6613.

xpilot, you´re right. Matthias should use the latest build 6613.

Thanks for your help guys but unfortunately it didn't work. Same result as before.
Any other ideas?

Mathius,
Did you use the 2015 TI cleanup tool as suggested by Berti?
This is listed in my signature link 4 below. Note the utility has some text instructions which calls for some registry editing.

I removed 2016 from a Win 7 before upgrading to Win 10 and had no issues with the 10 upgrade.
Then I reinstalled TrueImage 2016.

Hi GroverH,
yes, I did this. There were no registry entries that I needed to remove.

I currently have Acronis True Image 2015 (Build 6613).  My computer is running Windows 8.1.   I am ready to upgrade to Windows 10 AND I expect to upgrade to Acronis TI 2017 but don't want to have problems like Mathias had and obviously don't want to lose my data.

What is the best sequence of tasks?  Shall I first upgrade Acronis (I assume it will run necessary cleanup of the old program) or would I need to upgrade the Windows first?

Stephen, your current ATIH 2015 product is supported for use with Windows 10, as are the later versions of the product released in 2016 & 2017.

If you intend to upgrade to ATIH 2017, then again there is no specific reason to need to uninstall your 2015 version (and it will not uninstall or cleanup the old program for you), but if you did want to uninstall the 2015 version first that is fine too.

Uninstalling ATIH 2015 will not remove any of your backup data - this will remain on your backup drive regardless unless you take actions to remove it yourself.

I would recommend making a full backup of your current Windows 8.1 before perforing the upgrade to Windows 10 (ensure you include all hidden partitions as well as your OS drive).  This will give you a way to go back if anything really bad happens during the upgrade.
