True Image Home Total Progress indicator is incorrect
I use TIH to create disk images. I include the verify option when I create the images. My disk has two partitions, so when the job is created, there are 4 operations:
1) making the image of the first partition
2) making the image of the second partition
3) this flashes past so fast that I can't read it
4) verify operation.
The problem is with the "Operation Status" screen which show progress bars for "Current Operation Progress" and "Total Progress".
When the screen gets to "Current Operation Status" = 4 of 4 (which is the verify operation), the Total Progress bar resets to 0, and the Remaining Time calculation is way off!
As the verify operation continues, the "Current Operation Progress" bar is longer than the "Total Progress" bar. If the system had forgotten about the first three operations, then the Total Progress should at least equal the Current Operation Progress. But it is much shorter.
It's as if the "Total Progress" bar and the "Remaining Time" caluclation knows that the total consists of all four operations, but has forgotten that the first three have already run. So, it's displaying Total Progress and Remaining Time as if only 1 of the 4 operations was underway and the other three still need to be done.
It's really annoyning, especiall the remaining time calculation....

I have had this problem. It is much better on TI 2009 Home ver: 9796

Sorry David - I disagree. Remaining time estimate in ATI Home 2009, build 9796 is still ridiculously overstated. As an example a recent image gave an estimate of numbers of days for an image that actually took about 6 hours to create and validate. Even when the validation process was about 80% complete the remaining time estimate was 15 hours.
Acronis really needs to fix this bug. These long estimated times probably cause users to give up and cancel many backups because it appears that they are never going to finish.

my back up always stalls at "preparing for back-up", calculating, calculating - my internet is fine, so what could the problem be? I've just set it up yesterday for the first time. Thank you!

The progress indicator in Acronis True Image was broken in 2009 and remains so in their 2010 version. It was broken under XP Pro, Vista Pro 64 bit and is still broken under Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit. As far as I can tell it has been broken for well over 2 years looking thru the postings and Knowledge Base. I suspect they don't know how to fix it and that is why they continue to make the same stupid recommendation - if the job completes okay ignore it. Well they are ignoring the fact that we NEED to know if the job has started and gone beyond initialization and where in the overall time/size the job stands Otherwise who knows WHAT is going on? I suggest we get this out all over Facebook & Twitter and see if that gets their attention. Obviously all the users suffering with this major defect are being ignored.

Nothing wrong with the progress bars here - using 2010 build 5055.

When recovering from an image, ATI will show 20 minutes remaining for 4 hours. Looks wrong to me. It is absolutely unreliable to determine when the recovery will be done.
And I won't mention the many times I've seen 45000 days remaining for a standard image (which took 40minutes or so).
