True Image Monitor (2013) icon missing from Windows 8.1 task bar

I am running True Image 2013 (build 6514) on a Windows 8.1 laptop. Until recently, there was an icon in the task bar whenever a backup task was running. This icon would allow me to check the status of the backup, cancel it, and a few other options. Recently, the icon disappeared from the task bar and it no longer appears in the configuration screen "select which icons and notifications appear on the task bar".
The icon still appears in the task bar of my Windows 7 systems.
Any help on how to bring it back to Win 8.1 would be greatly appreciated.
