True Image restore running for 18 hours

Thread needs solution

I'm trying to restore laptop, getting a black screen with message "Acronis loading, please wait." This has been going on for 18 hours. Laptop seems to be working hard (but no blinking HD indicator light) & Maxtor Onetouch 4 external hard drive is spinning (but no clicking sounds). Laptop has only 512MB Ram. W XP SP3. Installed a spare HD in laptop that had a lot of old stuff on it and trying to restore to that. Probably a mistake...
Anyway how long should this take? If I interrupt the process will it abort and go back to its original state? Acroins True Image 9.0 or possibly upgraded to 10.0?
Thanks

If TI is still on that screeen, it hasn't even finished starting the program. The restore hasn't even started so it should be fine to reset/cancel.

Have you tried the quiet acpi=off noapic option detailed in Section II of the Read Before You Post thread?

You might also request the alternate loader ISO version of TI from Acronis Support.

Thanks for your reply. I'm not seeing the TI screen but a black screen with a small Acronis name/logo and "loading, please wait....". I'll try the quiet acpi=off noapic after I figure out the best way to get it out of what it's doing.

You should be able to just do a hard reset of the laptop. Usually, you just hold down the power button for several seconds (5-10, for example) and the computer will turn off.
