True Image running within Windows XP Mode

Hi folks!

This may be a little weird, but for certain reasons I'm trying to run True Image Home 2010 on a Win 7 Pro machine *within* a Virtual PC (XP Mode).

The idea is to manage and execute file (not system) backups from within the Virtual PC. The files to save are of course located on the host hard drives, ideally the resulting tib files should get there as well.

So this seems like a "normal" remote/network task which True Image should be capable of.

However, I don't get it to work. I can backup a file from XP Mode to host, and of course from XP Mode to stay in XP Mode. But when trying to backup a file from host to whatever (I tried an external HD first) the dialog stays on 0% forever, no files are written, and I can only "hard-shut down" the application.

I'd be very grateful for any ideas or hints, otherwise I need to reconsider pretty much the whole concept of my new PC ...

Are these files made visible to guest using Virtual PC's 'shared folders' feature or they are located in a 'regular' share that can be seen over network?
