Try & Decide

Thread needs solution

I have WinXP Pro SP-3 & TI Home 2010, Build 7.160. I've used Try & Decide many times with excellent success. Recently, one of several WinXP updates screwed up my system fonts & the only cure was to recover to an earlier date. The screw up only happened after I rebooted, which was necessary to completely install the updates.

Here's my question:
If I install a WinXP update using Try & Decide, and I have to reboot (without making a choice to accept or reject changes), can I reject changes after a reboot?

i.e. my plan is to use Try & Decide, install an update, reboot, & then see if my fonts are screwed up. If not, I'll accept changes & repeat with each update. However, if my fonts are screwed up, I want to reject the update change.

My other alternative, much longer, is to do a complete backup, install an update, reboot, & then check the fonts. If OK, do another backup & repeat until I find which update is the problem, at which time Iwill recover to the earlier backup.

It takes about an hour to backup & verify my system & there are 9 updates, so I would prefer the former option, if it will work. Any advice,
Thanks, Phil

Greetings Phil,
Try and Decide mode ATIH 2010 and XP... once enabled it will survive across multiple reboots. At each restart you will be asked to continue T&D or commit changes. You are safe, with changes, updates, whatever until you commit. What's not safe however is continuing to use a EOL OS that is no longer being supported by MS. That's just best practice :)

Thank you! I appreciate both your answer & advice. I've been resisting upgrading my OS, as well as Microsoft products, as I've been very used to the old versions & hate to have to relearn everything. I recently visited my son, who has the latest OS & Microsoft Word. Despite bringing my own templates, it took me 7 hours to accomplish 1 hour of work.
