Trying to delete in the list of backups, different types of backups that don't exist and seeing my drive letters as they exist

Thread needs solution

Somehow I have created a list of backups e.g., named My Backups and Documents, that have not been backed up and therefore don't exist. There are 3 rectangles that say My backups - not backed up yet and 3 that say Documents - not backed up yet. When I try to "remove from list", I get the error message: 0X00090034+0X0009FFFF+0X0000FF0+0X800706BA. After entering the event code at http://acronis.com/errorcode/, I get the message that states: There is no information about this error available now. The only way to get rid of these rectangles is by uninstalling and reinstalling True Image 11.

Secondly, I believe it was in the 2009 version of True Image that the linux drivers saw my drives as they exist:

C:- Windows, D:- DVD Burner and Reader, my external drive partitioned into E:(my backups) and F: (Data)

In the 2011 version, the drivers again can't read my drives. If it were not for the volume names, I would be lost. It seems we are going backwards and the beta testing leaves a lot to be desired!

ARe yu using ATI 11 or ATI2011? It makes a big diff re some issues.

The assingment of drive letters is not something ATI can control; it's a quirk of how Windows and linux go about assigning dirve letters. One should do as you have done and rely on volume names.

The "not yet backed up" message only indicates that no backup has been made via a scheduled backup -- it would still be there even if you did a manual backup -- I'ts an old quirk of ATI.

RE the apparently renegade "tasks/backups", does ATI list any backups or show any amount of bytes for these? If so, open on eo fthe task to explore the backups and right click and delee the individual backups, then go back and try to remove the groups. IF that doesn't work, then I tried, first to simply install-- this should give a repair option that will fix up any program files that might have gotten corrupted. This is relatively quick to do so worth a try but probably won't help if you have a crrupted database in ATI. If that doens't work, then I'd recommend using the ATI cleaner/remover and then reinstalling -- that might be the only way to purge a corrupted database.

Scott, It was either in 2009 or 2010's version that the linux drivers got my drives with right letters, my OS was Win Xp Pro--- I have been complaining about this since the 2006 version. I am using Win 7 Pro Sp1 now. I hope they fix the backups that appear in My Backup list that have not been created so I do not have to uninstall and re-install.

I second that.... What do I do when I manually delete full backups and true image 2011 still thinks they are out there????? in my opinion... There should be a reset or clear history option available !!!!

Actually, there a choice to delete a backup, all the settings and the backups or you can just delete backups by right clicking. . .. And there is a refresh which should clear out the old and repopulate the database with the backups ATI finds on the PC. Whether it finds them all and puts them into appropiriate groups (call them tasks or data sets) is another question. If ATI is showing backup files that don't exist, these usually disappear when you restart ATI. However, if the ATI database is corrupted enough that you continue to see backup files that don't exist then you can try deleting the task and making a new one from scratch -- this is best done with the target location empty. Try deleting from within ATI if you can and if that doens't work, then delete using win explorer. This is a bit of a pain but I have found it to be the most reiable method short of deleteing everyting and doing a full cleanup removal and reinstall.

ATI2011 uses this paradigm where the object the user is working with is some notion of DATA rather than a backup task -- it was thought that this would be easier for beginners. I haven't foudn it to be easier for beginners or experienced users. In any event, unfortunately, the ATI database that is supposed to keep track of all the backup files made under each set of setting sometimes has problems keeping track. It seems that several things can set it off kilter such as, sometimes, doing manual backup, manually deleting in Explorer some backups but not deleting the tast in ATI that made the backups . . . Also, if you edit a task, there's a chance ATI will count all the backups made with those settings will be counted as a different set of DATA (a diff backup set) than the ones made previously -- and you end up with too many backup files. In such case, emptying the target location, getting rid of the task and starting over seem to be useful, if not required, steps.

I also recomend that any time you edit a task in ATI2011 or delete any backup files or entries, that you close ATI and then restart it.
