Unable to backup, error MFT bitmap corrupted (0x70018)

Tried to make a backup on 2 different external HD's,that worked well till today, also together with Acronis.
I'm sure this is an Acronis problem, not a problem of my discs.

Tried it all,
JVC uninstaller,Revo uninstaller,nothing works,just getting B.S.O.D's

Oh yeah,
it's Acronis 2010.

Thank you for posting. I will definitely help you with this issue.

Such messages are typically caused by either errors on the hard drive or a problem with our low-level drivers which are responsible for disk operations.

Please check this article for the solution and if it does not help, please refer to the same article and collect the diagnostic information mentioned there. After that, please contact our Support team directly so that we can investigate and resolve this issue.

Hello

I have recently run into this problem, too. I updated to the latest version (Version 11 Build 8191), ran chkdsk, downloaded the SnapiAPI and I am still getting the same error. I ran the AcronisReport program; the report it generated did not show any disk errors.

Can anyone help??? I don't know what to do next.

Thanks,
Pat

Hello Pat,

Welcome to the forum and thank you for posting. I will definitely assist you.

The latest build of Acronis True Image 11 Home is 8101. Which SnapApi version did you install?

I would still very much appreciate if you could send us these two reports so that I can check and see if there are any errors on the hard drive as well as study Acronis software logs:

1. Acronis Report.

2. AcronisInfo report.

If you like additional assistance, please let me know.

Thank you.

Hello Anton

Thanks for the help. The Snapi version that I downloaded and installed was 586; file name was snapapisetup586.zip. Attached are the two reports you were looking for. The AcronisInfo generated a couple of error so I am not sure all the information was gathered.

Thanks,
Pat

Hello Pat,

Thank you for replying. I got your private message as well.

The version of the SnapApi drivers that you installed will not work with Acronis True Image 11 Home.

According to the reports that you so kindly provided, the backup issue is caused by those drivers, your hard drives check out fine. However, Acronis True Image 11 Home does not support Windows 7. I would recommend to check Acronis True Image 2011 Home and download the trial version if you are interested. You can get an upgrade for half the price.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.

Hi Anton

Thanks for the help, but I have more problems. I went through and uninstalled everything. Unfortunately when trying to re-install I am getting the following error: "The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2203."

However, you mention that True Image 11 is not compatible with Windows 7. I have been running fine for 1 year without any problems, until I got the MFT error. Is the install issue now related to the fact that I am running Windows 7?

I have added another report just in case you needed it.

Thanks,
Pat

Hi Pat,

I appreciate your response.

Although ATIH 11 may install and work on Windows 7, officially Acronis does not support this. You can try getting help from other Acronis Forum members. I am sorry for any inconvenience.

If you have additional questions, please let me know.

Thank you.

Hi Anton

So I downloaded True Image Home 2011 from the website - the 30 day trial version. I wanted to make sure it works. I installed the software, so far, so good. I then ran it and still got the MFT bitmap corrupted error. I then went back and downloaded Snapapisetup586.zip again and ran the install.

So at this point with the latest software and the Snapapi upgrade I am still getting the MFT bitmap error. I have attached again both reports. Please help!!

Hello Pat,

Thank you for getting back to me.

It appears to be a malfunction of the low-level drivers after all, although it's impossible to say why they are not working at the moment. It will require investigation by our Support team.

Please contact them directly, we offer technical support for the duration of the trial period. Please include the same reports that you were kind enough to send me.

In addition, please include this log that shows why our low-level drivers are not working. It can be collected this way:

1. Download the following SnapApi update build 586 from this link.

2. Install the downloaded SnapAPISetup.msi file with the "Enable Logging" option;

Reproduce the issue and get the log file without closing the error window. The log file will be created on the C:\ partition and have the name in "snapapi[date-time].log" format;

If you experience any problems or delays with your support call please let me know.

Thank you.
