Unable to create volume snapshot (0x70021) ?

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I don't understand why ATI is causing so many issues; I just replaced my main C:\ hard drive (new hard drive) and installed Windows 7. I was able to make backups to my external USB drive (also brand new) with no issues and I had it set up as "incremental" backups.

I then wanted to change this so I created a new backup for "differential", and now I keep on receiving this error:

Operation with partition '3-0' was terminated.
Details:
Unable to create volume snapshot (0x70021)

Failed to set snapshot bitmap. (0x10C44E)

The operating system might be overloaded. We recommend that you perform the operation later. (0x9)

I've been using ATI for a while and I always run into issues like this; it never seems to work flawlessly. I even tried upgrading to ATI 2014 and I still have this issue.

How can the backup work fine one minute and now I keep on receiving this error? Does anyone know how to resolve this issue?

Thank you!

Try to run Chkdsk :X from an elevated prompt where X is each partition on the disk. If you have hidden partitions, assign drive letters temporarily.

Are you referring to run this on my internal C:\ hard drive or my external USB drive where the backups are saved?

Also, these are both brand new hard drives that were able to successfully perform backups last week; why would I need to run a chkdsk already on the drives, can't this be an issue with ATI instead?

Thank you!
