Unable to license TI 2015 after Windows reistallation.

Thread solved

Hi,

I've just reinstalled Windows 7 on the same system, then installed my copy of TI 2015. I now get a message "You've exceeded the maximum number of activations for this serial number", So I click "Resolve" and select "I've changed hardware or reinstalled Windows". The up pops a warning "Please check your Internet connection". Nothing I do fixes it and the connections is fine as I am using the same system to post this message.

Is there any way to fix this, is TI 2015 looking for an old systems that is now gone. Maybe the licence can be freed up from the account page, though I can't see any mechanism for it.

It's cray that in 30 days I won't be able to use the software that I've paid for.

Peter, welcome to these public User Forums.

See KB 48380: Acronis True Image 2015: "You've exceeded the maximum number of activations for this serial number" - which confirms the method you have tried to use.

Activation will not work correctly if you are using a VPN or Proxy server in your network connection, so you would need to either disable such temporarily or turn off / set an exception for Acronis to get it to activate.

See KB 45522: Acronis True Image: Activation Fails with "Failed to connect to the Acronis activation server" for other options.

Just FYI I found a solution, may be useful for others - basically I avoided the online activation by unplugging my network and then installing TI 2015. As the product couldn't activate online it offered me offline activation which I did on a second system. I was able to move the license using the offline activation and received an activation code. I then applied that code to the still disconnected TI system and it was accepted. I then reconnected the network and all is well.

Peter, thanks for sharing a useful tip here! Glad the issue is resolved now.
