Unable to mount/unmount?

Thread needs solution

It seems I am unable unmount a backup I mounted, the mounted backup does not appear in the Acronis True Image, the mount tool or Windows file-manager.
I have tried killing all associated Acronis processes, rebooted, deleted the backup but it still things the the image is mounted.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks TL

If you can not see the mounted backup in the three items mentioned, how do you know that the backup is still mounted?

Can you post screen captures to clarify the issue?

Thank you, I'll see what info I can find that may help.

Thanks for you help James,

I have been trolling the Internet for the last 2 days without much success. The next step could be a clean install, I previously upgraded from 2012, is the only thing I have not yet tried.

It is almost as there is an invisible process running or maybe a lock-file (not log), anyhow I killed all visible processes that are Acronis or related and the result is the same.

If using Windows 7, find "mounted.xml" in "C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Database" and delete it.

OK - You last comment was a good pointer

Windows 8 the lock-file or the file responsible for the this behaviour is mounted.xml and can be found at

C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Database

once rebooted all works again, you can mount and unmount via the recommended methods, however if you unmount via file manager/explorer you receive a message that there was a problem etc ...

James, anyhow thanks for your pointer and helping me think :)
