Unable to Recovery any Files from Backup - Failed to Deploy Task with no Details and Useless Error Event Code

I am trying to recover files from a backup - not a complete restore - just a couple of files. I am able to read the backup and select the files. However, instantly it fails when I try to recover. It doesn't even appear to be trying to do a recovery. It does not matter which file I recover, which backup I use, where I recover to and whether I am running as admin. I am recovering on the same system the backup was created.

Any ideas?

I have been relying on Acronis for years never needing to recover files. It never occurred to me that Acronis does backups but may not actually be able to do recovery.
