Unhappy with Acronis Scheduler

Thread needs solution

I'm having problems with my backup schedules in Acronis. I've read that Acronis has it's own scheduler and does not use windows tasks. That would be fine except that Acronis does a pretty bad job of documenting even the most basic information about their scheduler in all of the official documentation. I've downloaded the scheduler manager but there is no information on exactly what I should be looking for in the get list commend. How do I know one of the entries is for my daily schedule at 5 pm? Or any other scheduler I've setup? How can I add a new schedule that backups all of my local partitions to a network share every day at 5 pm? Very poor documentation on Acronis' part for something that I consider to be a critical part of the application.

You can easily swith to Windows Task scheduler:
- create a shortcut of your backup task on your desktop using ATI,
- use the properties of the backup to configure the action of a new task in Windows scheduler.

For example, I currently run my schedules this way on Win8 as the scheduler is not reliable on my machine for unknown reasons.

Thanks for the response. I'm totally lost. What is ATI? Is this supported by Acronis? How do I stop these schedules from also running at the same time in the Acronis scheduler so I don't have dual schedules running? How do I know waht properties to schedule in the windows scheduler? How do I tell it which file to run and how to tell it to backup the partitions I selected and to the network folder I've selected?

Some more detailed information would be helpful. A link to a white paper or documentation from Acronis on how to do what you are proposing would be very helpful..

Thanks

I found another forum post that gave the steps on how to point to the a shortcut of my backup. I set up a windows task and pointed to the shortcut. The backup started at the specified time succesfully. However, the backup was a full backup. I have specified "version chain" in my backup task which from my understanding should do a full and then a week of differentials of incrementals. Why am I not getting the differentials or incrementals? I also understand that the version chain backup scheme is supposed to delete the weekly backups after 6 days and the monthly backups after six months. Does that happen or not happen as well?

Basically i'm just looking for the Acronis backup program to work as advertised. How do I get it to that?

The first backup of the default version chain is always a full backup. In fact, I believe that ATI create first 2 full backups (the first one will never get deleted).
I personally use a custom backup scheme, so I can control when what will be kept/deleted.

BTW, ATI stands for Acronis True Image.

Consider setting up a new task using a custom backup scheme as per figure 11-Inc inside the enclosed link.
Adjust the 6 (incrementals) and 4 examples (complete chains) to fit your needs.
Point a new task to an empty sub-folder so there is no mixing of backups files.
