Uninstall 2015 (to go back to 2014)

Thread needs solution

Having had my True Image 2014 "upgraded" to 2015 I was very disappointed with the Windows 8 style user interface so I have had downgraded back to 2014, however this is not easy as the uninstall for 2015 does not work.

Having been advised by Acronis support that the only way to go back to 2014 was to uninstall 2015 then re install 2014, I started what should have been an easy task however I soon found out that this was not going to be the case.

Having run the uninstall routine I was advised that 2015 had been uninstalled, however when I re installed 2014 it became apparent that there was a problem as the 2014 install program only gave me an option to "repair" my 2014 installation. I tried the repair option which appeared to work however I could not 2014 to run.

When I look in to the problem I found that all the 2015 background services were still loaded and running, none of the 2015 files had been removed, all the registry entries were still in place and the start up files were still being loaded. The un install routing had done nothing.

Once I stopped the services, and removed the start up files, I could then delete the 2015 files and directories and clean up the registry.

However when I tried to re install 2014 I was still only given the option to "repair" my current installation. Fortunately this worked and I have now managed to get 2014 reinstalled, Just had a small problem with the serial number but that was resolved with a download from my account on the Acronis web site.

Fortunately it is possible to remove the Metro App styled 2015 version of True Image and go back to a version that has a clear interface.
