Run the uninstaller from the win control panel then run the acronis cleaner for your version of ati:

I suggest you use msconfig to avoid conflicts.

I am trying to completely uninstall TI2012. The uninstaller does not work. I, too, am using Vista 32 bit. The link to the kb content above says access denied when I click on it. I am logged in (as evidenced by my ability to post to the forum). Please can anyone help?
TIA

I uninstalled from the control panel but TI is still installed! It is also disconcerting that Acronis TI does not now appear in the list of installed programs in the control panel and so cannot be removed using that method but still complains that it requires activation and that there is a problem with the scheduler. Regarding using the clean up tool: I have found the following content: http://kb.acronis.com/content/34876 . The information in this article suggests that it is important to download the correct clean up utility for the version of TI being uninstalled (which means there must be more than one version) but there is only one link to download the utility (and only one version). There is an ominous suggestion that if you use the wrong clean up utility that results are unpredictable! The utility itself seems to have its own problems, in that you are advised to ignore some of what it implies in its dialogue with you and then are told to check that certain registry keys are not present (and told this in language which most users will find unintelligible). A google of TI uninstall problems suggests that many users' computers are left suffering blue screen failures after uninstalling and after running the clean up utility.

I've been a Trueimage user for many years and have become increasingly frustrated with the way the user interface has been modified (fiddled with) and user control of the program has been increasingly obfuscated to the point where it no longer works for me. The decision to uninstall was compounded by the fact that some time back I could not get an earlier version's boot disk to work on a computer I had backed up, and restore a backup to the original disk.

Now I find it really is unacceptable that Trueimage does not uninstall properly, and that far less effort has gone into restoring a user's machine to its previous state after an attempt to uninstall than to modify what was a brilliant program to appear that progress has been made in its development.

Does anyone know if there is a definitive uninstall article for TI 2012 which is supported by Acronis?

Richard,

The cleanup utility you referenced in your post is the correct one for 2012. It works on 2011, 2012, and 2013.
When using this utility, the instructions suggest that you do not let the program restart your system.
The registry keys that are referenced are the two keys that Acronis modifies by adding the filter drivers that are used to allow the program to create backups of a live system. During the uninstall of 2012, these filters are sometimes still present in the system, even with a "proper" uninstall using the add/remove programs feature in Windows. There are only two keys to look at (and edit if necessary). The upper and lower filter values "may" contain the items referenced in the KB article. If so "only" the Acronis added items should be removed, not the entire key.
I have used the cleanup utility numerous times between version changes and to "force" un-install True Image from a system that had issues preventing the normal installer from doing it's job.

Attached are screen captures of my registry keys that are referenced in the KB article. If you look closely, you will see the "Upper Filters" and "Lower Filters" items. On 2013, the only entry added by Acronis to the default Windows values is the "fltsrv" entry. You would only remove that one entry, leaving any other entries as they are.
In the 2012 version, the Acronis filter driver entry(s) may be present in either the "Upper Filters" or "Lower Filters" entries in one or both of the referenced keys. Be sure to ONLY remove the Acronis added entries, leaving the other values as they are. You are looking for any of the following entries in these keys: snapman*, fltsrv, tdrpman*, vidsflt* (with the "*" being a number - such as "vidsflt67).

If you are uncertain about what to change, post a screen shot of your two registry values and we can give you specifics about the changes to be made.

I think the program, and uninstaller, are listed in Add or Remove Programs under "T" for True Image.

Make sure first to disable everything such as Acronis Secure Zone, Startup Recovery Manager, Windows Integration, etc. Use the Acronis True Image Cleanup Utility for 2011-2013: http://kb.acronis.com/content/34876
