It shows up during the restore process on the recovery CD or in Windows when what you restore is an image containing an operating system.

Has anyone found any particular brand of hardware easier to do the universal restore over others?

I cannot find it.
The installer of Acronis 2014 and Acronis 2014 premium is exactly the same.. How is this possible?

Yes where is it? The Universal Restore checkbox does not appear when I restore using bootable media prepared by TI 2014 Premium. I certainly hope that UR is not a scam - it's the reason I bought Premium in the first place!

Does your backup image contain an OS? UR does not apply to files only OS system images.

It certainly does. Windows 7 boots up but the mouse and kbd do not work. They do in the BIOS. True Image reports different Hardware ID.

See my thread "How does one get Premium".

Premium is just another license number. The installer is the same.

I have TI 2014 Full with Universal Restore on my XP PC.
If I apply (restore?) a full back up from my XP PC to a new Win 8 PC, after transferring the TI 2014 to the new PC, will the back up wipe out the Win 8 OS?

Yes, you will have a WINXP machine. You can restore files but will have to install all of your programs.
