Universal restore failed
I have a Asrock 945 GC motherboard and want to upgrade into a Gigabyte B85 motherboard. My System runs Windows 7 prof. and I have set up a windows Raid system.
I broke the mirror and tried to backup and restore the remaining bootable disk onto another hard disk on the same system. That worked (previous post).
Then I try the same operation with Universal restore onto the new hardware, running Acronis from CD.
(I tried that previously with universal restore from a 2002 AMD Atmos notebook onto the same Motherboard and it worked even though I got a message that a PCI driver was missing)
Now, starting from the 945GC MB, I get an error message, saying that restore_aw_assistant.exe is missing at the end. Also that a PCI driver (same message as before). When I then boot into the new Motherboard, it would not come up. It would offer the repair center but after some times says it can not help. The Log file says, that some system components must have been changed without notification. A save boot would only work until the disk drivers are used.
Is there help possible? Would I need to convert the broken mirror, which is still a dynamic Disk, into a normal Disk before backing up?
Should I add a Raid PCI card to my old system, run it off that and then switch MB, so the harddisk driver has a better chance to get updated?

It appears your error relates to the 2010 version of Acronis, is that what you are using? My suggestion would be to use the latest version of the bootable media disk available and see if the error persists.

You should create a new bootable media disk from within the TI app install on your machine and attempt to run the procedure again.

I will do this then. Not sure why? Was there an update? I purchased 2014 premium from edv buchversand with kundennummer 175980 on 24.2. I guess this is not a good place to show my valid activation code....

It still does not work.
I burned a new boot disk as suggested. I downloaded the drivers as suggested. I made a new backup from the active broken mirror (i.e. stil a dynamic disk) of my C disk. I also restored that mirror onto the same hardware to have a dedicated basic disk and made a backup of that so I have also a true basic disk backup.
I then tried to restore both of them. My missing PCIE driver (as suggested above) was found on my burned CD and installed during the universal backup. ( I think that the said PCIE driver is just an USB3 driver and not mission critical...). However, I still have the error of not finding "restore_aw_assistant.exe" and now a new error, saying that the driver "DisableHWUI_ID" is missing (I can not find that driver nowhere, just links from other people saying that they have the same problem ....)
The system will not come up, and Windows7 can not fix it.
PS: I do OWN Acronis 11, 12 plus and 14 premium, even though it seems that only 11 is registered. I fix that some time
PPS: I did a universal restore using Acronis 12 plus from a 2002 Semprom Laptop into the same MB (M85) that I try now and it worked. I never had the error "restore_aw_assistant.exe" missing. Also the PCIE USB3 driver was missing, but that did not matter then.
PPPS: I use Adobe Photoshop Elements which has the habit to put the photos and collections all over the place and also name subfolders within different subfolders the same. It is a real nightmare to install that new an find out in some month that the photocollection from 1998 did not make it... And my current MB can not run Win8. Hence I like to do a universal restore.
Please Help. I attach the Restore log and the system report and the Win7 message on failing to fix anything. The Acronis restore log first has some errors of not finding the river until I mange to burn a CD that was liked.

After I got no support, I analyzed and solved my problem as follows:
Acronis universal restore does not work for my hardware change.
Anoother backup software can not handle dynamic discs from Win7 (my broken system mirror still is a dynamic disk.)
So I did a backup of the dynamic system disk with TI 2014 (2012 (45€) does not do it, 2014 update needed (45€)). Then I restored that on a HD initialized as a basic disk. Then I backed up that disk with the OOther software (35€) and then restored it with this OOther software into the new motherboard using that software's hardware change functionality. It worked without any error message and extra drivers needed, all up and running.
What a shame this all is. The first thing I did in my new system - I deinstalled all my Acronis products
Good bye

What OS you use for backup HDD - TI 2014, OOther software. Where you they taken?
Какое ПО вы использовали для резервного копирования?
