universal restore - steps
maybe i'm just having a bad week but the directions to the universal restore just don't make sense.
i'm not at the point to have to use it but my pc is a few years old and sooner or later i will.
i've used the normal restore process a couple of time back in 2013
i'm on win7 64 bit.
the directions according to acronis
Restore to dissimilar hardware procedure:
1. Create an Acronis bootable media and boot the target computer (connect the media to your
computer and restart the computer).
2. Perform recovery of the backed up system.
3. Download Acronis Universal Boot media builder and create a bootable media containing Acronis
Universal Boot - a free tool available for Acronis Customers (see details below), which allows you to
make the restored system bootable on dissimilar hardware.
4. Prepare necessary drivers (see details below), boot the target computer and use Universal Boot (see
details below) to make the restored system bootable on the new hardware.
5. Now you can start the computer and work with your system restored to the new hardware.
how i see what it's saying
1. using the TI bootable, boot the new pc
2. on the new pc, restore your backup
3. install the universal boot builder on the new pc and create a TI universal bootable
4. get the drivers from the new pc on some sort of media, reboot the new pc with the universal
bootable then install the new drivers
5. reboot and your home free
this is my problems
- its telling me to install TI universal and create the universal bootable ON THE NEW PC
- its telling me to get the drivers from the new pc AFTER RESTORING (aren't the drivers bye bye at this
point)
shouldn't i be doing in order
have the TI bootable and have a backup
step 3 (on the origional pc) - create universal bootable media
step 4 - get the new drivers from the new pc only
step 1
step 2
now reboot using the universal bootable
step 4 - installing the new drivers
step 5
what i'm i missing???
