Universal Restore - Your experiences, advice
I will be upgrading my stand alone home pc in the next few months from a dual core to possibly a quad core processor and would like to use Universal Restore to accomplish this. I have been using TrueImage for many years and am very confident with it's use but have never used Universal Restore.
I'm running Windows7 and can supply other specs if needed.
I would like to hear experiences both successful and unsuccessful using Universal Restore and any advise you may have. Thanks.

I have system backups on an HDD, but fortunately never needed their use. Now, I have replaced my win XPPro SP2 Dell Laptop with a new Dell XPPro SP3 laptop and would want to transfer my Acronis 10 and several other programs to the new machine, + a mess of data, documents, pics etc.
How can I do this with Acronis? My V.10 was a download as were several other programs which I need to reinstall on the new machine. Where can I find the Acronis email address, to ask them directly
Thanks. ED

When it comes to the apps it is far better to re-install them. Data you can simply copy to an external hard drive from the old computer then over to the new computer - no need to use True Image for this.

Thanks very much for all your comments, but I will be replacing my motherboard and therefore will need to use Universal Restore. I just wanted to hear comments from others who have actually done this and have any advice or tips for the process and if their restore was successfull.
After all, the whole idea of Universal Restore is so we won't have to "re-install all applications" which seems to have been the accepted protocal for many years.
