Unscheduled tasks fail. Error: 0xB03F7. Username or password incorrect

Thread needs solution

No matter how I try to run a backup job...scheduled or unscheduled (immediate), the backup fails with Error 0xB03F7: "User name or password for the remote resource {0} is incorrect. Please check user name and password and type it again."

I am attempting to do a complete backup of my "C" drive to an external hard-drive. The external drive is setup as an Acronis Vault, with no password. The initial backup worked, but subsequent incremental backups fail.

I am using ATIH 2009.

Hello Josh,

I am familiar with the issue you are experiencing and will do everything possible from my side to provide you with the complete resolution.

To resolve the issue please re-start Acronis scheduler, it appears that the scheduler service has been installed improperly.

- Download a special Acronis utility;
- Start the Command Prompt from Start -> Programs -> Accessories menu;
- Run the following commands in the folder you saved the file to:
schedmgr task zap
schedmgr service stop
schedmgr service uninstall
schedmgr service install
schedmgr service start

This should delete all Acronis tasks on the PC. You should manage your tasks from the scratch. Execute a backup operation and see if the issue remains.

If the issue persists, please download Acronis scheduler, which is a special utility to update the scheduler service.

Extract the downloaded file, run install.bat and wait for the process to be completed. The utility will automatically update the service. Reboot the computer and re-create the task. The issue should be resolved.

Please let us know the results, we should be sure that the program runs flawlessly. If the provided information is not clear or if you have any other question do not hesitate to post them and we will be glad to answer.

Thank you.

That seems to have fixed it. Didn't have to update the service.

Thanks.

Hi Oleg or any other Acronis expert...
I am not a techie and feel that the instructions above are not detailed enough for me. At any rate I have gotten as far as the download and opening the command prompt. I have no idea how to get to the next step of running the command prompts in the folder in which I have saved the file. schedmgr.exe is in my download folder. What do I do next? Please remember when giving instructions that some of us are not on the same knowledge level and can't read between the lines.

Thanks!

Hello Pamela!

Thank you for finding time to share your concerns with us! I understand how inconvenient the lack of instructions is, and will be glad to shed the light to the situation.

Let's say, you've downloaded the Scheduler manager and saved it to the C: drive.

Thus in order to start it, please follow these steps:

  1. Start -> run -> cmd
    and press enter
    This will get you to the command prompt
  2. In the command prompt type:
    cd C:\
    and press enter
    This will get us to the C: drive, where the tool is saved
  3. Then type
    schedmgr.exe
    and press enter

After that the Scheduler manager is started, feel free to enter the commands that Oleg mentioned here.

Please update the Scheduler service as mentioned in this article. It contains the newer version, which should solve the issues with the Scheduled tasks.

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!

Thank you!
