Updating 2010 from present level up to 3 levels to be current

Thread needs solution

I have a Acronis Home version 2010, build 6053. I use it often to back up 3 drives on my system. I like it but have never had to do a "recovery" so don't know how good it is. I've just looked on the Acronis site and found that my SW is 3 levels "down", so I think I should update it.
My question is: Can I download the most recent release (7160) or do I need to go through the previous two updates ? Also, how will that effect my current backups of my 3 drives after I update. If I have an issue before I can make "new" backups with the updated SW, will my current backups let me restore using the new SW ?
Also, any advise on the updating process is appreciated as I've only done an update once since installing the original SW quite a while back and as I remember, it was not all that neat of an experience.
Thanks in advance.

Don,

You can install the latest build without having anything installed. Do a disk and partition backup of your system (all partitions of the disk containing your OS and apps need to be included).
Also, produce a recovery CD and boot your computer on it to try it: restore a couple of files.
Once this is done, you have a high level of confidence you can restore your computer to its current status.

Then, uninstall ATI 2010. Install the latest build or latest version. Produce a new recovery CD and test is against your old backup. Keep your old recovery CD for safekeeping until all your backups are done with the new build or version.

I agree w/Pat L, updating to the latest build should be pain-free. Indeed all your "old" backups should work as well (but you DO need to test that you can recover!).

After updating to build 7160, I recommend also that you find-and-install the latest snapshot drivers for 2010b7160, which are in snapapisetup586.zip found here somewhere. Then you should be golden unless-or-until you get some new PC that 2010 doesn't work with (I've not done so yet myself--2010 seems to work perfectly on all my systems).
