Upgrade from ATI Home 2010 to 2011 - Is it worth it?

Thread needs solution

I have ATI Home 2010 and have had a lot of problems with it in the past. I am considering switching to a different product, but was wondering if 2011 was a better product than 2010 for stability and ease of use. 2010 was not a very good first impression for a first time Acronis user. What are your thoughts?

I don't know if this will help much but I tried doing the upgrade back in January and it was a mess. I couldn't get 2011 to work and support would not respond. The only way I finally got a response was by threatening a charge-back. But even then they didn't bother to try to fix it - they simply issued a refund. So my guess is that they knew of the problem and couldn't fix them. I still use 2010 but it has a number of problems. I thought maybe TI finally got 2011 working but reviewing the posts here seem to indicate nothing has changed. It's really too bad because during the short time I had 2011 installed, it appeared to be a big improvement over 2010 as far as ease of use.

I would be interested in your experience if you decide to upgrade. I might even try it again. :)

TIH 2011 is a dissapointment, as i have stated on these forums before. I have yet to complete one successful backup without something strange happening, adding weird characters or 1's to the filename, Terminating unexpectedly because the path cannot be found anymore, Email backup only backs up my outlook 2007 contact list and email account data (no message data files), The Home screen incorrectly showing my backups as corrupt, not verified or not yet backed up, I can go on and on. I opened support cases for most of these issues but the first three emails each time back and forth is support telling me to try something and me explaining if they had bothered to read my initial email properly they would have seen i had already tried that, so i just gave up with them knowing i cannot be the only person experiencing all these issues and keeping my fingers crossed that a fix will be release shortly.... Just in case Vista ultimate 32, clean install of TIH2011 and plus pack. All backup jobs recreated from scratch (several times). I had experienced similar problems with TIH 2010 but the last release somewhat corrected most of the problems i was having, maybe i should revert back to that!

Don't bother with the upgrade TIH 2010 worked fine for me. THI 2011 has been nothing but problem is what I would class as a pre-beta product at this time.

2010 was a bit of a pain at times but it worked for me and was reliable once working properly. 2011 is not. I am re-installing 2010.

I was pondering an upgrade so I visited Amazon.co.uk and wasn't surprised to find the full version of TIH 2011 for less than half the amount that Acronis wanted me to pay for the upgrade. Then I read the customer reviews - which were the worst I've ever seen for anything on Amazon. 10 reviews, all giving it 1 star (because that's the minimum possible).

So, Amazon would have saved me £25 if I'd bought 2011. But I've really saved £42 because I shan't be upgrading at all. Maybe Acronis can get themselves sorted out for 2012?

Acronis firsy gave me a $5 discount when i decided to buy the upgrade to TIH2011 and the plus pack because i complained that i was angry that i purchased TIH2010 and the plus pack a few months before 2011 was released, I sent them an email about how lousy the discount was and i beleive they ended up giving me a 25% (Maybe 30% cannot remember) discount. In all honesty whatever i ended up spending on TIH2011 was a waste of money. This has made me very cautious about purchasing any future Acronis products.
