Upgrade from ATI2010 Plus to ATI2011 Plus - Can I Preserve Job Settings on Clean Install?

Thread needs solution

I could have sworn I read something in the list of improvements in ATI2011 that it's now possible to back up and restore job settings. Perhaps I was dreaming, because I've searched the user guide thoroughly and can't find anything about this.

In the past, I've found that when upgrading from an earlier version, it's best to completely uninstall the old version before installing the new one. Of course this means I lose all my job settings, meaning I need to painstakingly recreate all my jobs.

What I'd like to do is preserve my job settings before I uninstall ATI2010, so I can import them into ATI2011. Is this possible?

I've searched the list of guides as well as the forum, and I simply can't find any info. If this information exists, would one of you kind souls please point me to it? If it doesn't exist, can anyone please help? There must be a way to do this - I'd like to know what it is!

BTW, I just purchased my upgrades to ATI2011 and the ATI2011 Plus Pack, just haven't downloaded them yet.

TIA and Regards!

TI 2011 includes options to import/export backup settings. However, I think this is only for TI 2011.

There was also a thread where a user installed TI 2011 over TI 2010 and none of the tasks ran correctly. The solution was to recreate the tasks in TI 2011.

You may want to try an upgrade install first and see if it works for you (just make a backup first).

and let is know of your results.

As always, I made a fresh image of my C: partition. I figured I'd install ATIPP2011 over ATIPP2010 and see what happened.

For the first time in many years of upgrading my ATI installations, it seems to have gone smoothly. All my jobs appeared as they should in ATIPP2011, and after making a few config changes, I made a new image of my upgraded system. I actually ran the image job from a shortcut I'd made when using ATIPP2010, and it worked just fine.

I then exported my backup settings. But ... do these backed up settings include my jobs? I would hope so, but I suppose it could be simply backing up backup/restore config settings.

I'll run the system for a few days and make sure my scheduled jobs run OK. If not, I can revert to the image I made before upgrading to ATIPP2011.

I wasn't able to participate in the 2011 beta, unfortunately, but I have to say I really like the improvements so far.

Thanks MudCrab and GroverH! :)

Backup settings include tasks and schedules.

Thanks for the reply, Colin B.

Just another note: I'm running Win 7 Pro x64 w/ 8GB RAM, no dual booting any other OS.

The backup/restore function does not work for me. Nothing happens when I use the backup button (or restore).
