Upgrading to True Image 2013 from 2012 in Windows 8 Pro
Hi,
I'm a user of True Image Home 2012 (Windows 7). I recently upgraded to Windows 8 Pro and True Image 2012 won't install.
How do I upgrade to True Image 2013? Do I just pay for the upgrade? I need to be sure before making any payments.
Thanks!

I just posted in 2013 forum and what James said doesn't work.
Prior to installing Windows8 it's recommended to uninstall/remove Ti2012, if you get an upgrade key. Once Win8 Pro is installed, the upgrade key doesn't 'satisfy' the TI2013 install for the key field and you can't go back and install TI2012 (Win8 see's it as an issue). I'm at a loss as to what to do, something needs to be done to the TI2013 install so that it 'accepts' upgrade keys for instances like this.

Mark,
Does 2013 ask for the original key as it ought to?

Mark,
The upgrade key needs to be for True Image 2013 by Acronis. Did you perhaps purchase an upgrade for the Plus Pack instead?
If you are sure your have purchased the True Image 2013 by Acronis main program upgrade, you should contact Acronis support and have them verify you have a working serial number for the 2013 upgrade.
The process I mentioned in my earlier post does work if the serial numbers are valid.

I have also flagged this topic for Acronis forum personnel to review.

Colin- Yes it did when I did a copy/paste operation to put the key in the field (entering it by had didn't work)
I've updated another post of mine with solution (as above). It allowed me to put in upgrade key, then when it didn't 'see' 2012 asked for verification of it's key, I supplied that and it was off installing.

I am just finishing about a week of intermittent effort trying to RESTORE a computer that was UPGRADED to Windows 8 from Win7. I am using a Windows 8 backup by Acronis 2013. Restoration is not a simple task. Here are my main experience points.
1) I verified that the Acronis Backup of the Windows 8 system would restore onto another similar computer. All OK here.
2) Then I installed an older windows 7 backup on the destination computer. All OK.
3) Then I used a windows 7 computer with the Windows 8 backup file on it, installed Acronis 2013 on this Win7 computer. All OK.
4) Then I tried to MOUNT the Windows 8 backup using Acronis 2013 on the Windows 7 computer. I could not do this says Acronis because of "dissimilar system" or some such. I tried a workaround from this Acronis forum to no avail.
5) I used a computer with Windows 8 on it, copied over the Win8 backup file and got it to mount without any problem.
6) From here, I always AVOIDED copying over the Windows Folder, the Program and Program x86 folders and the User folders. Then, while I had both the new Win8 computer and the destination Windows 7 machines with "shared C-drives" I could only pass data from the Windows 8 machine to the Windows 7 (destination) machine IF AND ONLY IF I did the transfer from the Windows 7 machine. The Windows 8 machine claimed it could not locate the Win7 computer. (A win8 setup problem I am guessing. Even tho I could see the hard drive on the Win7 machine on the Win8 machine, it showed no files. Windows 8 has its OWN black clouds. :) )
7) Then as I started downloading the 350GB of files from the Win8 machine down to the C-drive on the destination Windows7 machine, I periodically got stoppages saying "Administrator privileges required for this transfer". I had setup my user/password for admin privileges on BOTH machines at start. I was able to manually copy these dozen or so files MANUALLY to a THIRD machine and then load them over to the destination Win7 system.
8) Periodically, the data transfer has STOPPED from the source Win8 machine down to the Win7 machine for no reason. Starting it up again by manually locating the folder stopped on and re-initializing the transfer has kept it going. 14 hours now and counting on a 1000MB/s wired LAN.
I expect to be thru with this by the end of tomorrow. Acronis REALLY SHOULD TEST THEIR PRODUCTS. Over the years Acronis has been a star performer for me, but the combination of Windows 8 and Acronis 2013 is really bad news for technicians. Avoid if possible.

Hi Joe- the issue you mentioned in trying to map from Win8 machine to Win7 I have seen with Server 2012, same type of thing. We're always able to map from older OS toward Server 2012 without issue. As you may know Server 2012 is probably the 'father' of Win8, just as Server 2008 & wn7. See new release for Acronis. I'm considering it now, taking a look.
