USB Camera getting I/O error
This may be similar to some of the "Unrecognized USB device" problems but the solutions do not seem to help. I plugged in a Sony camera to my Windows XP Pro System. It takes a while to be recognized but eventually shows up as a generic volume using the WINDOWS/system32/DRIVERS/fltsrv.sys driver from Acronis. It attempts to auto-play but fails. When I double click on the device I get a pop-up (after a long delay) with the error "E:/ is not accessible. The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error."
Any ideas?
I'm running Acronis build 7119.

I have not tried to uninstall 2012... Given some of the comments on uninstalling I'm a little nervous about doing that. I run a business on these computers and down time is a big deal.... So, no, I haven't tried uninstalling the software.

Well, use a disk an partition backup to capture the current state of your computer.
Test your recovery CD on booting your computer on it and retrieve a couple of files from the backup you just did.
If the system disk contains important business data, copy this data to a USB disk in case you cannot restore the system for some reason.
With this, you will be able to restore your computer if you encounter errors during the troubleshooting.
Then, uninstall ATI 2012 and see if the problem goes away. I have to say there is a good chance that there is a driver conflict. This will be confirmed if the problem disappears after uninstall. Unfortunately, we won't be able to conclude if the problem subsists since ATI2012 leave some leftovers...

Stephen,
For my benefit, can I ask if this is a new behavior? New camera? ... or did it work with an earlier version of ATI previously?
Did the device come with a drivers disk, or just one containing image or editing applications?
Do you see a way you might get windows to identify the device correctly?
Pat's suggestions should be followed so your data can be safeguarded while you troubleshoot.
