Users are unable to log back on after they log off - Acronis seems responsible - how can it be solved?

Thread needs solution

Hi

Here is typically what happens when there is a problem (once a day on average)

1. A user log off. Later they are unable to log back on. The screen accept their password, but Windows returns to the user list immediately. No error message is visible.

2. OR they exit their session (without logging off), allowing someone else to use the computer while their own programs still run; later when they try to log back on they are unable to reconnect to their session. The screen accept their password, but Windows returns to the user list immediately. No error message is visible.

There are no errors in the evnt log

The only solution has been to reboot the PC, sometimes loosing lots of unsaved data entry.

After weeks of testing, investigating, etc... I found out that after a user logged off, their session would not close completely: two processes are still running, both called "TrueImageMonitor.exe". See attached screenshot.

I decided to uninstall True Image Home and the problem disappeared instantly. In the last 2 weeks we have not had this problem once.

The PC has Windows XP SP3 installed on it

It has Acronis True Image Home 2011

The PC has been setup with a dozen local users on it

Question: is it possible to use True Image without having that problem? If yes, how?

Thanks for your help

Alexandre
