Validation error
Acronis 2010. Today was the first time that I have needed (rather desperately) to restore from a regular backup that I've been doing for several years.
I tried to verify it before attempting a backup and get "The archive is corrupted. (0x70020)" With event code:0x000101F6+0x00070020. I walked back through the eight incrementals and all give the same until I get to the 4th which is ok back to the original.
It's insane that incrementals would continue against priors that won't validate but that seems to be the case.
Am I hosed at the one CRITICAL thing this product is supposed to do for me?

Have you tried validating from your bootable recovery disk to see if you get the same results?

Do you need to recover the whole partition, or just some of the files. If you need files only, you could copy them out of the mounted archive.

When you mounted the archive, did you select the last incremental, or did you select the original backup?

Yes, same results running Acronis from USB stick.

Unfortunately I need the whole partition. It is my main windows partition and something in the install/uninstall system got screwed up. Investigation uncovered a can of worms in that which is beyond minor surgery.

Last incremental I'm pretty sure. I tried to see if I could restore that partition and the MBR to a drive I had sitting around after formatting it and of course TI won't even allow me to select it as a target. I'm doing a full, not quick, format on that drive now to see if I can get TI to restore to it.
