Validation failed after image backup completed Acronis TI Echo Workstation
Hi,
I did some searching earlier and didn't see anything that fit what happened to me this evening. I have an external 1TB drive for my imaging of an XP SP3/Vista Ultimate 64 dual boot install on a RAID 0 setup (2x~500Gb partitions). I have backed up last month at least twice and prior backups with no problems.
All of a sudden tonight I get the validation failed message:
Details in the log say: The archive is corrupted.
I had prior backups there and am able to open them. The latest backup (3rd one today) is openable as well. I thought that maybe I didn't have enough free space on the ext. drive so I deleted the oldest backup to make more room and did the 3rd attempt. Got the same indications. The backup size now is ~246GB so I am wondering if this is a limitation I am hitting or not. The older backups are ~211GB and there was ~500Gb free on ext. drive before this last attempt.
The error message I see after is Operation with partition "0-0" was terminated.
Details:
The archive is corrupted (0x70020) Tag = 0xF5F8CBCF76155638
And final error was Operation completed with errors.
I am running an older version (release probably) of Acronis TI Echo Workstation I had to get due to the external drive I am using (didn't support foreign drives in Workstation 9.1). I boot system up with it powered on so it is seen at login. Otherwise I reboot and then seeing it is fine/accessing is fine.
In Event Viewer I see nothing since early this afternoon which is not associated with the backup (started after that by at least an hour).
So anyone have any ideas? I was able to open the backup and look at the 2 partitions (C/E XP/VIsta respectively).
I have also grabbed the latest update to the program which I am going to install on the 2 desktops tonight and will retry this ones backup. I do them bi-weekly as I think of it. My laptop is still running Workstation 9.1 and hardly gets usage so I do it when I think of it lol.
Thanks in advance,
Mike

Hmm, surprised no responses in a couple of days to this.....
I updated to the latest version and am getting the same results even after freeing up space on the external drive. I will attempt to do this to one of the internal drives providing there is enough space on it.

Well I performed the same image backup of my raid partitioned 2x500GB drives and got the same exact error message. Size increased slightly but I updated a couple of programs (AV/Spybot and Ad-aware) prior to this backup so not worried about that. I was able to mount the Vista drive and poke around in directories fine and expect same from the XP partition. something is amiss here. Any ideas? I used latest version of ATI Echo Workstation build.

Well I found another thread and it talked about voltage settings on the guys system/memory configuration. I recently reset my system back to pretty much stock defaults due to a driver issue with a Motu product (didn't make any difference either coming down from 3.6Ghz to 3.0Ghz stock speed). But I went in again this morning and did a couple minor tweaks and now it appears to be working ok because at least check it was >50% done validating whereas before it wouldn't go past 2 bars in progress indicator. So looks like things are back to normal lol.
