Version 2012 annoyances and problems

Thread needs solution

I'm using XP Pro w/SP2.

I tried the 2012 evaluation. The first thing I found is that it apparently runs a background task that is searching all of my drives for .tib files. Since I have several large drives it takes so much CPU power that things become very sluggish. I could not find an option to turn background search off.

At some point (I can't remember the details) it gave me a message saying "Cannot initialize Backup Archive Explorer".

Then when I tried to mount a .tib I got a message saying "Cannot assign a drive letter to a partition from backup archive". I know I could do this with 2009 so I don't know what could have gone wrong here.

Later I got a crash sending control into Visual Studio in an attempt to let me debug it. Of course I would need source to debug the problem so I exited that.

Finally I rebooted and tried removing 2012 and after it performed the reboot for that I started getting some messages referring to some Acronis services not being enabled.

I gave up and restored my system with my trusty 2009 rescue CD.

Not sure about all your issues but there is an option to turn off the scan for backups. See link below.

When mounting a image, it is best to exclude any non-lettered partition from being mounted--if that was applicable. An alternative would also have been to try to mount in read/write mode.
