Version chain backup has stopped making fulls and is only doing differentials

Thread needs solution

True Image 2014 build 6673 running on Windows 7.

I have a version chain backup that does the entire disk of my laptop over my network to a 3 TB NAS drive array. It has been doing the normal full backup, followed by 6 differentials, then another full backup, etc. It runs every night at 10pm and then shuts the computer down.

The last full backup that it did was on May 20. I have 10 differential backups following now.

The only thing that I can tell that has changed is that I have reached the 6 month window where it is deleting old backup files. It may be a coincidence, but both of these things started happening at the same time.

The "version chain" backup scheme doesn't do well with deletions.

My suggestion would be to stop using the existing task and create a new task with the "automatic cleanup" as per this example. Determine how many differentials you want to keep before the next full occurs and then determine how many chains (X) you wish to keep. Here is one example of automatic cleanup suggestions.

GH13. Create Custom Differential Backup Scheme. 2 Diff, Keep 2 chains. The 2-2 is user choice.

GH14. Custom Differential Backup Scheme . 6 Diff, Keep 4 chains. & folder

Edits or changing a task can cause issues as well. Create the task and then leave it alone. If changes needed, (other than scheduled changes which can be done from the main menu) create another new task and stop using the old task. Avoid edits!

I'll give that a try. Thanks.
