Vista and Win 7 User Account Control
Must UAC be disabled for the automatic loading of Acronis 2014, or can UAC be set to allow just Acronis to load, not other programs?
Regards.....

Many thanks Enchantech. Unfortunately, the page instructs to search for secpol.msc. In Win 7 that is not found!
For over a year I have been backing up my system initiating Acronis automatically by using Win Task Scheduler. In order to do this I have the UAC turned off....not recommended by Microsoft.
This would be unnecessary if the scheduling function in Acronis 2014 worked!
I'm sure others must be wanting a better solution than that I have adopted.
Regards and thanks again.

What version of Windows 7 do you have? In Windows 7 Professional 64 bit secpol.msc is found at C:\Windows\System32\en-us for an English US system. You can also open a Run box and enter secpol.msc. Maybe secpol.msc is not included in versions of Windows 7 below Professional.

Thank you for your interest Mustang.
My Windows OS is Win 7 Home Premium, SP1, x64
I guess my version has no access to secpol.msc
Pity!

Noel,
Just wanted to confirm that you are correct secpol.msc is not present in the Windows Home Premium editions nor from what I can find Vista. So short of a Registry hack this is not an option

Thank you Enchantech, I think for my OS I need to download gpedit.msc.
However, I really can't get mixed up with low-level changes and I understand from Microsoft that the UAC is, using their words, embedded at the kernal of the system, to ensure a strong contribution to security....which I'm all for!
Currently, I'm looking at what UAC offers at a "one-step" reduction in the setting level and also have some script for turning on and off the UAC, however, if these need a re-boot, it'll get complicated, so I'm best looking at the UAC at a reduced setting.
Thank you again for your comments and interest.

Yes, I think a reduced level of UAC is your best option to as you say lessen complication.

Sadly, I've given up on this one!
In order to maintain the protection of UAC, in future I will manually start Acronis backup!
Pity, everything else is automatic.
Many thanks for the help, interest and comments...

When I first installed Acronis 2014, the built-in schedule did not work and following the advice of the Forum Acronis star, Grover, I used the Windows Task Scheduler. This necessitated the turning off of the User Account Control facility.
Now, wanting to enjoy the benefit of the UAC protection, I generated this string in order to learn how the UAC could could be selectively by-passed by the Acronis/Task Manager combination.
In fact, I have been unable to find an effective by-pass procedure. However, I have now discovered that with the UAC setting at the Microsoft default, the Acronus Scheduler works!
I assume that Acronus 2014 has been updated, as the Grover remedy no longer appears in the Help facilities.
Many thanks for the help, advice and interest of you both, Enchantec and Mustang.
