Want to go back to ATI 2010 maybe?
I'm currently using ATI 2011 Update 3 (build6942). Over Christmas, I installed ATI 2012 to try before buying. It was VERY slow to create an image, it took an hour whereas earlier versions took about 10-15 minutes. I decided I didn't want it so I uninstalled it. Unfortunately, for some reason, it also removed my current version as well and I could no longer boot up my system.
I had to recover all my 5 disk partitions using Easeus Partition Manager (yes, it worked fine!) so I now have my system back, but now, the Acronis Scheduler won't create an image on a schedule, nothing happens. This is back on 2011 again.
Question is, can I revert back to ATI 2010 and still be compatible with images created with 2011? I'm using win7 home Premium 64 bit.
I'm afraid I have lost confidence with the recent Acronis True Image programs. On the 2011 main screen, my display 'loses' some of the detail for each image which is very annoying as well.
Thanks.

Pat, thanks for that. Maybe I should go back to build 8101, would that be a better bet? I don't like VERY risky!

Build 8101? Which version? That sounds like V11, not 2011... Why do you think it could be a better bet?

Whoops!
Just had a closer look, yes it is v11 2008, so not that one.
An earlier version of 2011 seems to be 6868 from June 2011, that might be better?
Thanks for pointing that out!

EaseUS recovered your disks from your Acronis .tib files?

Not in that way!
I had to use Easeus to recover the missing partitions. Not from Acronis files.
So would 6868 ATI 2011 be a safer bet for me?

If you are asking whether 6868 is going to be faster than the last 2011 build, I don't think you will see a difference. You can go back to 2010, and keep your 2011 recovery CD to recover these 2011 images if you ever need to.

It's not so much the speed, there might have been a problem with my system. I just didn't like 2012 for slow speed and other reasons, and I'm not too keen on 2011 either. I don't like the interface and I don't like the way a lot of things are laid out. I also discovered that 2011 cleared out an old image (one that I created as a base system after I installed Windows and my basic programs).
Do I assume that to go back to the earlier interface I need 2010 or is there an earlier 2011 that uses the old interface? On balance I would rather have the program available to me rather than just use a 2011 recovery disk so I think perhaps I should try the earliest 2011 build. But then I suppose that will be buggy!
Hope that makes sense!

Yes, there will be bugs with earlier builds, but they might not be showstoppers. At any rate, if you like the 2010 interface and 2010 works for you, you might have a clear choice: all builds of 2011 have the same interface.

For the moment, I've gone back to 6868 2011 and I'm trying harder to get used to it! I seem to be getting on a bit better with this build so I will stick with it for a while as I need to see if it behaves etc. I see you are using the same 6868 too.
OT I expect, but where do I find the screenshot settings?
Many thanks.

Click on the blue operations link, choose edit backup settings, click on the blue edit backup options in the bottom left, go to the advanced tab and unfold the screenshot settings section.

That was a dumb question Pat L, sorry, I had already found it and I don't know how I missed it before!
I also meant to say that I'm a lot happier with build 6868 so I'm much more confident about staying with Acronis although I haven't yet done a recovery.
Thanks.

Just make sure you can boot your computer on the CD and recover a couple of files from your disk backups. Short of a complete disk restore, this is as close as you can get to a high level of confidence.
