Way Too Many Problems with ATIH 2011 "Upgrade"

Thread needs solution

I naively accepted the offer to upgrade from ATIH 11 to 2011. I struggled with it for a few months before giving up on it entirely. I uninstalled 2011 and Plus Pack 2011 completely; I also removed ASZ. I am running Win 7 Home Premium on an HP DV6 notebook with 8GB RAM, a 650GB Hdd and an Intel i5 processor.

I'll spare anyone who reads this all the grisly details, my gripes all involved the fact that Acronis seems to have lost its way. Version 11 easily accommodated my needs and most elements of the program were fairly transparent. On the other hand version 2011 required me to accommodate its needs and many elements of the program were opaque and difficult if not impossible to understand.

My final gripe with Acronis is that the support offered is fleeting at best and seems to end a short time after the install and orientation period. The result is that once a user is somewhat familiar with the program and then runs into difficulties, only paid support is offered.

My sad conclusion is that Acronis seems to have abandoned most of its efforts to be user friendly and to fully support its products. Unfortunately, the company's business model appears to have shifted from one of providing a flexible backup solution to users that accommodates their needs, to a business model wherein its products require its customers to accommodate the needs of the product. If this doesn't change, Acronis will suffer the inevitable consequences. I sincerely hope that Acronis gets the message.
