What are the options for a file restore oepration to avoid duplicates, etc

Thread needs solution

Had to restore my Win 7 Pro 64bit system back to a May full image backup. Afer reinstalling any missing programs...what is the best way to restore user files/docs/gifs/jpgs/etc so as to keep the original file creation date and also avoid creating any duplicate copies of files laready on the drive from the May restored files tib. Have a full files backup from 1/13/13...plus numerous weekly user file backups going back to the May tib restore date.

Whats the best file options seetings to avaoid duplicate files but still restore all files from the files backup(s) without missing/losing and files ?

Thanks...TiminAz

I think the best option is to mount the image containing the files, and then run a folder/file comparison program selectively to see which files need to be restored.

Thanks Pat tried to do that viewing 'opened' tib file(s) but it didn't work...forgot about the 'mount' option...should work fine.

Opps...cannot mount file backups...getting an Acronis error saying ..."tib does not have a partition...can not mount" or something

Tim,

Is your tib file one a full disk image or a files and folders backup? Files and folders backups can't be mounted.

Will 2013 not allow you to 'explore' your tib file? You need to be in the recovery tab to explore the image. If you've integrated TI into windows double clicking on the tib file should also allow you to gain access to its contents.

Sorry...wasn't very clear...the tib I'm working with is only file/folder weekly backup...I made a complete full backup of my files/folders/user files...etc...before starting the system restore.

I could use the full system backup I also made at the time...but would be much faster/smoother to use the folder/file tib tho.

Just don't want to over-write newer files with odler files...or end up with gobs of duplicate/copyies files. That was my original question...can you do a full folder/file tib recover/restore without writing over newer files with the tibs older versions, and/or, without creating 100's of duplicate files after the folder/file tib restore/recovery ?
