What Did They Do to the Boot Disc Creator?

Thread needs solution

I've been an Acronis TrueImage user for years, and it always works the same way: their tool creates a bootable CD that I use to access the backup when I need it.

With TrueImage 2015, the Rescue Media Builder creates a disc that does not boot. It contains one folder, and no files in the root. I tried taking the files from the folder and putting them in the root on a new disc. It didn't work. I can't say which version of TrueImage 2015 I have because their Help section in the app doesn't list the app version, but it should be the latest.

I then downloaded and installed the Universal Boot Media Builder. I created a 788 MB ISO file and burned a disc from it. It boots into something I've never seen before, and in using it, I was unable to get to anything resembling the Acronis boot environment I've used before.

What did Acronis do here? How do I create a straight-forward boot disc like I have in years past? It used to all work so great. :-(

Hello Jason,

I'm very sorry that you faced such difficulties creating bootable media and will be glad to help you.

The process of bootable media creation is still as straightforward as it was before. Please find here step-by-step guide. If the media created by this method doesn't work as expected, please contact our support team for investigation. As a workaround you can download an .iso image of Linux-based bootable media under your account.

As for the bootable media created with Universal Boot Media Builder, it is supposed to be used specifically for making restored system bootable on the dissimilar hardware. In this article you'll find more information.

Thank you.
