What happens to Acronis Backups, after you restore?

If I have a scheduled Acronis True Image Chain Backup and have, for example, the first main backup and 15 incremental backups.. Then, I restore the original backup image, what happens to the other intermediate backups? Are they still valid? Are they automatically deleted or removed? It seems like things could get confusing...

So, then the scheduled Chain Backup continues to backup, but now the new incremental backups have different data on them to restore, that would seem to be valid, while the old incremnetals would be invalid now?? I'm confused....

Is there someplace that I can read-up on this type if situation?

You are right. After you restore, ATI will simply continue the incremental backups. Your first incremental after the restore might end up being as big as a full and the chain continues. No backup is deleted.

In previous builds, the backup you restored was not showing up in the list of available versions upon restore, although the TIB file was still there. This problem seems to be fixed since 6857.

After the restore, your backup chain will be longer than set. For example, I have a chain of 1 full + 6 incrementals. The sixth incremental ended up being the first one after the restore. It was as big as full, then ATI made 2 other incrementals (go figure) before starting a new chain. So I ended with 9 incrementals for that chain. No big deal.
