When cloning, computer turns off 39% of the way through copying drive C

Thread needs solution

I have tried to clone my hard drive 4 times using Acronis True Image Home 2009. Each time it shuts off after 19 minutes when it has copied 39% of my C drive. When I turn my computer bock on it says Acronis True Image Home Completed but there is nothing on the external hard drive. I have a brand new Compaq Presario computer running on Windows Vista.

I had to buy this computer after my old computer failed when Acronis was creating a new partition for the secure zone. I was also unable to clone the hard drive on my old computer due to Acronis freezing all the time. Having spent the last two months downloading all my old programs and data backups etc, I wish to ensure that I do have a clone in case anything happens to this computer.

Can anyone help?

Check the Power Saver settings for both the Hard drive and the monitor - set both to at least 1 hour.

My Power Saver setting for the hard drive was set at 20mins. When I changed it to 6hrs, I was successfully able to clone my hard drive. Thank you very much for your helpful advise.
