Which USB external hd is which ?

Thread needs solution

Trying to clone from one ext hd to another and they're both exactly the same size, so in the Acronis Cloning panel, I don't know which one is the destination or source?

First, the cloning should be done when booted from the TI Recovery CD.

Attach only the first disk and boot and look at how program numbers it.

Then attach the 2nd one and see how it is numbered by the program.

AS the tools menu/add new disk routine should be used anyway to initialion the target,
as you choose thiis option, it will identify which disk has data and which does not or has other means.
Most likely, this option offeres the best choice of seeing what is on the disks for a proper decision as to the identity of each disk--if both the same size and type.

If unsure, you can cancel before the clone begins and try another method.

Frankly, on many brands the method you are using to clone will not work.
Most blank targets need to be located inside the computer where its intended boot position is.

Better yet, my suggestion is to use a backup and restsore and do not use the clone procedure at all as it is risky and all too often the user makes a mistake of disk choice or a power or program issue. Most certainly, if I were to choose the clone procedure, I would first do a full disk image backup so if something did go wrong, my backup would save the day.

I strongly endorse Grover's suggestion. Backup and restore is safer than cloning, and achieves the same end.
